single channel retard?

If my memory not fail the autothrottle flare retard mode is only a double channel ILS app.This plane was in single channel (B)

_ Airspeed is 10 knots more than target speed and not decreasing.

Mi quest is how the pilot detected this fail. No light,no ammeter current because this heater dont have power in ground.
