Apparently Turkish DGCA has produced a statement that they will only issue validations for ICAO licenses if 2 examinations are undertaken in Ankara.

I heard from a friend that these examinations...

Yes, the B737-800 can be forward slipped to increase descent rate on final approach but in 5000 hours of flying this aircraft I have only seen it done once...
