If they offered YVR and SFO on base SO positions with that kind of pay I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people would go for it considering the crappy pay US pilots are paid to begin with....

Maybe they can't find enough qualified cadets then. Rumor didn't exactly make sense to me either since they supposedly have had thousands of applicants. Nevertheless it is a rumor from within CX.
