I have heard pilots, in a number of cockpit dvd's that I have, use the phrase ' below the line' as a check item prior to take off. What exactly are they refering to here? Engine instrument readings ?...

I have noticed on some cockpit dvd's that on final approach one of the pilots may call out something along the lines of " Plus 10 down 5 ". What does this refer too?Many thanks
