I've used both the OAT disc's and the pratt books. I agree with the comments about OAT air law its very dry but the meteorology disc is much better helped alot when used in conjunction with the pratt...

If you read his post fully it says the drive is knackered. So to wipe the stuff off it he has to some how resurrect it.

Does anyone know why a lot of the flight stores charge ludicrous amounts for CAA and ICAO documents when you can download them for nothing? Just learning radio at the moment and one shop wanted £18...

You could try the freezer trick. Pop the HDD in a freezer bag in the freezer for about an hour, then connect it upto to another machine and try using a zero fill utility.
