Just to concur with a few other posts on the subject:

It seems the industry standard for police work is 45-50k pa, we get a shift allowance on top of that making take home pay just over 3K pm. ...

I wear a cheap sekonda at work, don't want to damage the breitling on walk rounds etc - keep it for the pose factor in the pub! And NO - a big watch doesn't mean you are less well endowed.:)
