I heard 80 starting next month in BNE base. I personally know of 5. With all the people out of work it must have been easy for them to employ.

There is no redundancy in BNE Base. Only the few through mitigation but that's one for one.

737 heavy maintenance has been carried out in CHC by air NZ before. Last aircraft was about 18 months ago. Only classics though then.

Shocking. Although I don't support the use of contractors, especially when the company is reducing the numbers elsewhere, if you do use contractors then you have to pay contractors wages.

They have the chance to pick who they want from Avalon. Yes there is a lot of dead wood there but there are still a lot of good engineers still there and will shortly be out of work.

Yes I agree if Avalon was allowed to run the way it was in the early days then obviously Casa don't care, and therefore why would the company care? Ratio of 15:1 there some shifts back then?

The external recruitment drive is for ame's. The redundancy mitigation is a different story ie depends who wants to go from BNE BASE or LMO to who gets a job there. Like for like trades licences etc.

12 month fixed term contract?? I wonder why they don't use ALG or Forstaff for that?? They have always said the work drops off on 2013 and picks back up more than it is at now in 2014.

Qantas to make a further 300 LAMEs Redundant?

Mr Nasty told us this just a few weeks ago. He mentioned that heavy maintenance was now there or there abouts and the line was next to sort out. (I think AVV was not in his mind when he said this)....

Things get a "little" clearer after today's EK tie up. With FRA gone how many 744's does that free up....5-6?? Early retirement most likely. AVV now goes from little to no work very quickly
