Aer Lingus never handled RYR at Shannon in the past. Swissport are their handler in Shannon.

Seems like death by 1,000 cuts. Turns out that breaking from DAA was a major error, despite PR attempts to portray modest traffic growth since 2008 recession (!!!) as justification. Truth is...

Why not switch services SNN-ORK?

1. U.S. Preclearance
2. Established year-round market at Shannon until carriers concentrated on Dublin
3. Shannon's location meets market demand for western seaboard, unlike Cork

Bye bye Shannon?

Let's contain our excitement until we see what sort of service is proposed. We've seen too many false starts from Irish regional airports in recent years and the anti-Shannon sentiment on this forum...

Too simplistic!

I'm afraid that talk of SNN's and ORK's debt being assumed by the DAA cannot be compared. Let's not forget the enormous cash cow- Aer Rianta International, that originated and was based in Shannon...

Cork pax preference

Does CCR seriously believe that the road designation matters more than the journey time (in any event SNN/ORK is a National route and not a boreen)?
Passengers will opt for a 1.5 hr. journey over a...

U.S. Pre-clearance

Shannon Airport's initiative (for that's what this was) on acquiring a Pre-inspection facility was years in the planning and pre-dated Open Skies by a long way. Whereas it did require an act of the...

U.S. Pre-clearance

Re. SecondDog's question on CBP history in Dublin, it originated with a Shannon Airport management initiative to establish U.S. Pre-Inspection (immigration only) at that airport as an enhancement to...

Economic conditions as excuse for falling numbers

I think many airports' are getting away lightly in using "Economic conditions" as an excuse for falling numbers. A few posts back Liam Scollan was being credited for overseeing Knock's passenger...

Mystery posting by Copenhagen

"DL are the least committed to Shannon these days. Their SNN seasonal 752 service to ORK which will see increased EI competition could become a year round service from ORK."

Could you elaborate...

Transatlantic feasibility

See multiple comments on this subject over the past couple of years on this thread- it arises every so often and the same old pros and cons are trotted out each time.

APD comment

Wrong "bastards". The DAA doesn't impose the APD tax- only governments can levy taxes.

I fail to understand the begrudging tone of many of the preceding posts. This is a logical development of the groundbreaking initiative at the time (1988) by Shannon Airport's management team to...

Yes, but wasn't it pointed out at the time that the SNN number included those working in the A330 hangar there? On that basis it's not possible to deduce the staff/passenger ratio.

"Have heard there is a carrier talking to the CAA about a US service. It is neither a US or Irish carrier.."

Probably too early to say re. BFS-LHR, but it looks like annual total won't meet the SNN-LHR total of 331,000. Yield, who knows?
