I know of one or two ATCOs in my time who had degrees, but the best trainee I ever encountered was a former train driver, I also know of a former plumber and an ex cop. good luck, anyway.

Sadly all the SRAs I ever did were on a souped up 264 (2 milers)....still quite satisfying though. Last one I gave was in the early Autumn of 1983 to an Air Ecosse Bandeirante....ho hum.

Raffles 1 springs to mind also....but back in those days 4 digit callsigns weren't exactly unknown....a lot of the BEA numbers had 4 IIRC.

Remember them well....a right pair of whingers.....the whole system could be brought to a standstill by launching a pair of tubes from Flight Clearance with less than 30 seconds separation, IIRC.
