I saw G-RMAA at egbj recently with all its markings covered up and then I saw this....

What would cause this noise on start up?

What component would cause the sound that you hear on initial start up? I fly turbines but have never heard that before. It sounds to me like a combustion noise?

Thanks for your reply, it does make you wonder, doesn't it! My only guess is that G-HAAT is more eye candy than G-LNAA, seeing as it is representing MD Helicopters.

Just noticed that G-HAAT is in Dubai for the airshow. Is this normal practice to take an aircraft out of service for an airshow? What are Herts using in the meantime?

There was a similar post to this not long ago, I think involving a Met EC 145. Maybe firearms were involved and the air unit saw fit to turn off the lights to avoid being a target.
