Hi guys.

This clearance was being used in FCO yesterday along side 'keep the one ahead in sight'

Is this a new type of clearance or a local variation....?

As alluded to above, anybody can bid to move to LGW from LHR. However the superior bidding system at LHR is a big draw...

Unfortunately we just met the glide slightly ahead of the loc. I tried to pre-empt this by asking for further descent having been given the 'call localiser established' - so no permission to descend...

I'm pretty sure I've despatched with a landing light deployed (stuck). There was a slight fuel penalty, but as far as I remember, no speed or level restriction.
Never heard of a light detaching .....

I'm pretty sure it is just the BA Airbus that flies the MLS @ LHR - but as unless ATC lines up a few BA a/c consecutively on the approach during LVPs - no improved landing rate will ever occur....
