Spitfire down in Kent

A couple of hours ago.
According to witnesses the engine started spluttering, pilot executed a forced landing in a field. Near Woodchurch.
Pilot ok.

Hawker Hind crash in 1939

I'm researching a midair collision that occured down here in darkest Kent involving a civilian Gypsy Moth and an RAF Hind K5418.

My thanks to Alex who found a newspaper report of the accident to the Gloster Grebe in the Times Archive.

Witnesses said that the plane was flying "fairly high" but got into a spin. It happened...
