I don’t have an opinion on minimum requirements for DEC, but not so long ago 1000 hrs wide body was not required.

All the DEC’s that came then seems to have done quite well...

News out today that SAS are cancelling 766 flights over the next 4 months. They were to be operated by SAS owned Cimber on the CRJ900. Cancellations are due to pilot shortage.
