EK15 Diverting to MAN from LGW

i saw the EK15 declared an inflight emergency because of storm Erik and is diverting to MAN? But wind speeds at the time were only 20knts gusting to 30 knots. Anything else going on?

I don't think you can call it a shambles. Its the routing necessary to fill the aeroplane and make the service viable. The alternative is an empty aeroplane and no service.
