Are you shutting the system down properly? When windows loses power it doesn't have a chance to save your registry properly and this can lead to corruption if it happens often enough.

I fly props only and I know that if I have an engine failure it's impossible to miss, but in a 777 how do you know if your engines have stopped working after a long descent...
