Paint Brush in ATR 42

Look at the very left hand side of this ATR cockpit, see attached. Why is there a paint brush there?
I believe some helicopters have one also. I have a few ideas, but does anyone actually know?

Yes, I can’t find any relation to weight ether, the only relation would be with the arm between the CofG and the stabiliser (fin). I.E a short arm (aft CofG) would require a larger rudder...
