A bit of QA maybe?

Hello all,

I hope this subject fits under the QA part. I have been flying for about 15 years, the first 14 in the military, the last year with a major airline. This is about the use of the radio. Why is it that many times a day R/T transmissions are brutally interrupted by someone that just got on the frequency and turns on his transmitter 2 nanoseconds after selecting the frequency? Especially on the airways it seems to me there is enough time to listen for about 5 seconds before speaking. Does anyone have any thoughts on this one or am I the only one who is bugged by this? I don't really lose any sleep over this, but it is quite annoying...

Cheers!

I guess people just don't think about it, it's so simple to think of it as flipping the switch and then just talk. That simplex/duplex thing seems to have faded in pilots memories... I've probably done it myself sometime, but I try to think about it.
