HF Degree
 

Dear all,

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how/where/who conducts part time university degrees on Human factors/Psychology primarily concerned with aviation/airlines.
I am CRMI, however I would like to expand on the matter and perhaps acquire a higher qualification.
Any thoughts/recommendations would be most welcome.

The University of Southern California (USC), in downtown Los Angeles.

They have had a very good accident investigation course for many years, and I believe they now incorporate just what you might be looking for.

Worth a try anyway.

Global TM, the advice from 411A suggests that he is not entirely HF literate. The USC course is not appropriate to what you asked.

In fact part time HF courses are hard to find. I'm not up to speed with what is available at the moment, but you might try looking on the RAeS site for some help. An alternative would be to ask the folks at the Applied Psychology Unit in Cranfield or the Aerospace Psychology Research Group at Trinity College Dublin.

I can confirm that the Cranfield HF course is v.good and does offer a very accommodating part-time arrangement.

Of course my opinion has nothing to do with the fact I'm currently sat opposite the guy running the course ;)

The specific course is the Human Factors and Safety Assessment in Aeronautics MSc and assumes no prior HF background (although goes into much depth). The website (www.cranfield.ac.uk) has a lot of good info on it, or you could always ring on 01234 750111 and ask for the Human Factors Group.

I am currently doing a Masters in Aviation human factors by distance education at Swinburne University, Victoria, Australia. This course is open to overseas students providing you meet the prior learning requirements. ATPL or LAME with industry experience as a minimum. Course route is Gaduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters. Normal 3 years part time.
