Security

Heard a man has successfully sued Manchester Airport for forcing him to have his pic taken on their image capture system and received substantial damages maybe 5 figures, he has also had the same system remvoed from Bristol.
talk is he was also photogrpaged at BHX and GTW and is awaiting substantial damages from them too.

The reason being that the image capture system operated, as it is done at the moment, is illegal.

Same chap was arrested by GMP on the word of Manchester airport for refusing to have photo taken, and they are in the frame for false arrest.

Seems this image capture system is doomed?

Well, doomed until the law is changed I would think. Security is much too important to be pushed aside by a few peoples sensitivities isn't it?

If you don't want your picture taken then don't fly!

...Hey, Omark44

Security is much too important to be pushed aside by a few peoples sensitivities isn't it?
But security paranoia isn't. Fear and paranoia are more dangerous and corrosive to civilized society than are all the World's security loopholes and terrorism combined.

Do you believe that it's rational for millions of daily air travellers to have to eat their inflight meals with plastic utensils instead of silverware since 9/11?; or that millions of air travellers have to take off their shoes every day because of the "shoebomber?"

Ok so it allright then to strip search everyone, we all carry passports now with photogprahs so why do some airports photgrpah the Irish destrinations only?

why do travellers get plastic knives etc and glass bottles, you cant carry nail clippers yet you can carry a pen.
the whole thing is absurd

Omark44 7th January 2005 09:52

Well, until someone can convince me there is no longer any terrorist threat I'll be happy to use plastic cutlery, have my shoes examined and be photographed at check-in, anything that will preserve my mortal status is very welcome.

For what it is worth, from the drop-off point at an airport, through check-in, immigration, security, the departure area and the departure gate all passengers are subject to CCTV security cameras so what is the problem with attaching a name to a picture that is already on record, multiple times?

ein " so why do some airports photgrpah the Irish destrinations only?"(sic).

Could that be anything to do with the fact that parts of Ireland and some Irish factions have been actively engaged in terrorism for the last thirty years at least, in some case a whole lot longer?

Time to let go of all that civil liberties rubbish, it doesn't save lives.

I liked the comments of the Flight Ineternational about the TSA and the DHS, are very intrested on adopting impressive security meters with littl accountability regarding their effectiveness.
