B747 Landing Video

Some while ago a video was circulating of a KAL 747 doing a very pronounced slip to achieve runway heading. Does anyone know where to find it?

Try here. (At http://www.airsidetv.com)

If you don't have the latest IE and Windoze Media Player versions you might have to do the "right-click - Save-As - etc" routine. :)

Moved into Safety from RP for a couple of reasons, apart from the obvious.... first, I know the answer; you'll find most of the current Aviation video nasties on this site... ok, it's all in German, but shouldn't stop anyone from finding them by scrolling down the page.

And second, this and the Alitalia MD11 down the page are perfect examples of where a Go-around should have been flown, and wasn't. At that stage of the approach however, it is more of an aborted landing manouvere rather than the go-arounds we all do from decision height or above. Perhaps one of the factors that these videos exist is the psychological difiiculty in aborting a landing as opposed to performing your common-or-garden go-around?

I throw that in as an open question. Certainly it's something my company emphasise in training having had some hairy encounters with the ends of runways over the years. Current wisdom in our training department states that you are not to be committed to the landing until the reversers are cracked...

Ref the A320 vid--- Whimps ! These TAP guys! In my day a little bit of wind like that wouldn't put us off! We'd get her into the flare then feather the port outer and get the WOP-AG to slide out on the starboard wing, piece of cake. Go Around, pah! Tended to use up a lot of WOP-AG's though.

But seriously folks, I wonder what the wv was at the time in Lisbon, 'cause it sure looked unstable from well above the GA point. They got away with it though, where did they go after the GA? Scarey movie that.

After that "2nd" GA.. we diverted to FAO...

I was a member of the Cabin Crew on that flight.
Can only say Pancho....wonderfull job from the guys up-front,after the debriefing Capt. was really a Super-Guy:D

It is easy for you guys to boast from the outside...and give opinions and do some critics, but,I think none of you ever like to encounter these kind of situations....unless you are a SUPER PILOT like Pancho:p
