That's an intriguing question and the answers aren't that simple.

I was a former engineering technical trainer hence I used PP however, in response to your question, in part, we've all heard of "Death by Powerpoint " and we've all sat through presentations which exemplify this quip.

The problems, as I'm sure you are aware, begin with the content being displayed, the style, the amount of information and ultimately the interaction of the trainer with the trainees. For those who simply used PP as a "means to an end " i.e simply delivering information because it's their job, then yes, it is a work place hazard because a class will rapidly become bored and, in essence, "switch off " which is not what you want when delivering theory and even more so with safety critical topics.

However, if the trainer uses PP as but one form of training delivery, to support others, then it's very useful. I was a supporter of EBT / VLE to actively involve students and it worked very well.
