Smoking Cockpit
Hi All,
I am working in Asia. People are smoking in the cockpit without asking to the other pilot. Last week we had an air cond + 1 pack failures; 34°C in the cockpit and no air; and my captain was smoking a lot. Very difficult to maintain a good CRM in these conditions ! What do you think about that ? What do you suggest to do ? Thank you |
Shoot it
One FO in my airline discreetly shot a picture of the Capt on his mobile phone and sent it to the television news channel a couple of weeks later. That ended smoking in the cockpit for good in the airline... But dont get caught doing it...

Problem: in this company it is not really forbidden to smoke

Accidental extinguisher discharge? You could always go on Oxy and by the time the company have topped up a few jets they might do something.

I think a more subtle approach is required.
Eat lots of cabbage and other gassy foods , when the captain lights up let one of your own silent but deadlies go ... negative reinforcement. |
Yes it is a good idea !

Talk to other [non smoking] F/Os in your company to solicit unified concern about the health and safety risks of smoke in the cockpit. Ask rostering not to be paired with this selfish jerk because his smoke is making you sick and making the flight unsafe.

I am talking at the moment with other pilots. I discover that some F/O are smoking without asking to the Captain. It will be a long way to change things !
