Ionizing Radiation

Has anyone done any good research on in flight exposure to ionizing radiation? I know this is not an issue for the 10K miles/yr passenger or the RJ guys who fly so low, but it seems like if you're doing long haul flights the higher altitudes being pushed by American and others could increase your risk of fatal cancer by 1% or more over your lifetime according to http://www.faa.gov/library/reports/m...media/0316.pdf Airlines just say it won't effect you on that flight, which is true, but you have to add them all up. Problem is you never see a big tragedy and there is no way to track it back to the air exposure.

Everyone talks about fuel burn, but it seems like we're losing thousands of lives if you project the higher altitude across all of the aircrews...not to mention passengers. Is this wrong? I'm just starting to read up here...
