UPS reduce pilot force ??

UPS to lay off 100 pilots by Autumn http://

<a href="http...CTION=HOME |
Mentioned two hundred on another web site....UPS has found out that it is FAR more cost effective to outsource their flying (especially overseas), and they can do so because their pilots' union can't do anything about it...;)
UPS is (and always was) a TRUCKING company with aeroplanes. (Whoops...lorries for our UK friends... ) |
Why should UPS be any different from the rest of the flying world?
At least it's only 100-200, and not the many hundreds+ at other airlines... I suspect 411 will agree with me that the folks over at UAL don't have a clue as to what is about to happen to them once the bankruptcy judge imposes the emergency work rules... Ask any EAL pilot and they'll tell ya'... |
DownIn3Green...
Yes indeed they will...into the unknown, whether they like it or not........ |
Noted two B727 belonging to Transmile Air( Malaysia) flying UPS callsign in Auckland,NZ last week.
Definitely cheaper to contract out than pay expensive American pilots. |
UPS pilots are in negotiations with the company right now. These layoffs/furloughs are typical "negotiating tactics."
|
I agree with non-sched, it could just be union whipsawing during negotiations. I expect UPS will have them back before long.
