BA B777 Fire Bottle issue

Rumours are leaking out from the Base that BA's B777 fire bottle calibration have been mis-calculated and the a/c limited to 159 ETOPS until they've been replaced. Rumours of many months to replace all fire bottles across the fleet. Can this shambles be true? :ugh:

Not quite a BA issue methinks!

Check it out!

Do BAs 777s actually fly anywhere that requires more than 159 minutes ETOPS?

Presume your suggesting the shambles is Boeing related and not pointing the finger at BA? :\

There is no mention of the 777-200ER there, the majority of BA's 777's are this version so maybe only 3 of BA's aircraft are affected??

Carnage,

It doesn't just depend on the geographical position of the ETOPS alternates but also the weather at these airfields. As a result, the answer is yes.

As just mentioned above there are many factors to take into account but trying to generalise, it will typically have most affect on LGW-Carribean services and unless sorted before early 2009 then the planned Rio service on the 777 could be affected too. Not really a problem on the North Atlantic
