Air 2 Bob to close NCL

Heard today that Air 2000 are to close newcastle as a base, all staff except flight crew are on 1 weeks notice including engineers.

More bad news for NCL unfortunately. :(

Sad but true - A2K at Ncl always vulnerable
due to almost total lack of winter programme.
Press release states that First Choice will
place punters on 'other carriers' next summer
-have A2K done a deal with other carriers that will see a similar arrangement elsewhere
with roles transposed ?

Great bunch of people at Ncl - thanks for the
good times everybody.

Sorry to hear that the rumours that have been circulating over the last month or so are true. Used to work with (for)Air 2000 until our respective companies went their own ways and found them to be a great bunch of individuals and generally a nice outfit.

Comiserations

does this mean all scheduled flights are to be cut from NCL?

starship 3rd November 2001 22:45

The "scheduled" flights from NCL were as you probably know mainly carrying normal charter pax, however with a handful of "scheduled" pax on board! Using the DP prefix, as opposed to AMM. They will be gone too.

Commiserations to all Air Two Grand staff at Newcastle, in what is yet another tragic event in these horrible times.

Sincerely hope you all find alternatively suitable positions very quickly, and keep the professional spirit, and high standards you are all known for alive.

Good Luck for the future,

cheers,

starship :(

Expedite climb - you say more bad news for NCL. Are you referring to the loss of Gill or have there been cutbacks by other carriers there recently.

redfield 6th November 2001 00:09

NCL is having a bad time at the minute. Gill liquidated, Air 2000 closing their base, Braathens pulling out by the new year and Sabena on the brink! There's not much left up here. I think Air 2000's winter program through NCL was one TFS flight per week. I'm not sure if the base closure means that they won't fly through NCL at all, this remains to be seen. On the plus side for NCL, the new GO STN route is doing well!!!

Yes NCL suffering but at least BE have taken on some 13 ex gill staff. Wouldnt you have thought the local press would have done a spread on this? Nothing in The local rags to promote this at all. I think they should interview the staff involved and do a picture for good news for a change.
