Ryanair Cost cutting
Micheal O'Leary would seem not to happy presently as his recent Christmas 300,000 free seat give away has not worked out as expected (See Sunday Times).
Business newspapers and writers have concentrated on one significant cut back this Christmas which I am sure the ryanair staff are devestated about, Yes he has cancelled their Christmas party. However this is only one factor in a recently growing worry about behind the scences troubles at ryanair. :eek: SB |

but really is anyone really that surprised that MOL does this type of thing??? This is the reason and many more that i'd never go to FR to work. The staff should spite him anyways and go to the local airport hotel and hold a big party in their honour and not all any management in. Hopefully the 3 ghosts of Christmas will visit MOL soon.... :cool: :( :D |
MOL had a bad day today with five 737-800's sitting at LGW as opposed to STN. Fog at STN last night? :confused:

Yeah, I was up in the Dublin terminal when I heard the announcement of another cancelled Stansted flight 'due to adverse weather conditions'. The muttered 'Ryanair apologises for any inconvenience' didn't seem to charm the disgruntled victims much.
Still, ya get what ya pay for. Merry Christmas. ;) |

Reminds me of earlier in the year, a/c from Paris (if you can call it that) being diverted into Bournemouth due to fog at Stansted.

All Ryans aircraft bar the few remaining 200's are CAT3 and if STN was that below that then none of the other STN based aircraft were getting in either. If you want rubbish service due to adverse weather then I suggest you fly BA whose numerous Dash8's and Embraers are only Cat2...

About half of FR flights to CHARLEROI diverted due to adverse weather too last night...
Seems winter season is not realy the best season to fly FR (if there is such a season of course...) BTW, have you heard the continuous rumours too (it was even ecchoed in a Belgian financial newspaper) saying that FR seems to be deliberately falsifying its own financial results to raise their shareprice artificially. I don't know if this is true or not, but didn't the main shareholder/founder recently sold a very big package of his own shares? Don't you think it is really strange to sell so many shares now if you are convinced they will be worth much more next year (as their financial results and MOL predicts?) Or does this guy have personal financial problems? What does this guy know that we don't know ( or does not want us to know) which can explain this total lack of confidence in his own company? Anyway, I don' trust it anymore; If I'd have FR shares, I'd know what I'd do: sell them asap! |
It does seem that Ryanair are a little too big for their own boots.Michael 'o' Leary said not so long ago that there will be 3 super flag carriers,and a low operator,Ryanair! With the possibility of one other,maybe say easyjet.Well he must know everything about the flying game then,what about:British European,Go,BMI,Eastern,Scotairways,Manx,and all the other idependants,not everyone wants to fly out of regional airports.People want to fly from Edinburgh to London city,or can the Ryanair smoke generators get into City!You pay for what you get with FR,a seat on a real piece of aviation history,the Boeing 737/200 smoke generator.I am not anti FR,but the reason they use small airports is that their A/C would keep setting off the noise detectors and hence large fines!Ryanair,get on with "your" business and stop worrying what the Irish/UK market is going to do,and do'nt expect to be givem preferential treatment,your 737s weigh similar to the Aer Lingus 737s yet you pay different landing fees!! You are sailing very close to the wind with those types of comments. The main areas where Airline accounts can be fudged is where aircraft are owned directly/benefically leased or the capitalisation of maintenance. 1. If you maintain a aircraft and the fix will last 4 years, then you can write this off over 4 rather than 1 year. There are no accounting standards which gives guidelines to these specific transactions. It is up to the auditors to ensure what they are doing is prudent. 2. If you think an aircraft will be worth x after n number of years, then you can write off the airacrft down to that amount ( bit like who you think a car is worth after 5 years ). If you get what you thought it was worth, then you're ok. Otherwise, you could end up with a whopping gain/loss. Again the auditors should check this. Ryanair's accounts have been heavily scrutinised over the past number of years. I do not hear anyone screaming about their accounting policies. |
I can name you several companies with fantastic annual results approved by leading auditors, which are now under court protection or even went bankrupt because it turned out their fantastic results were falsified after all...
Besides, let's face it... although MOL tries very hard to make us believe the contrary, FR or its concept is nothing special... It's just another low cost carrier like Easyjet, Go, Buzz, Vex, AirOne etc. etc. They all have their particularities of course, but basically the concept is always the same... How come then the profit at FR is much better than at these direct competitors? Is MOL a unique selfmade wonderboy? Does he know a magical trick learned from Harry Potter? Is he really the only guy in Europe to know how to run an airline successfully? Sounds all just a bit too unlikely, doesn't it? A more plausible conclusion is that he's just one of those guys who know how to artificially create a much discussed superinvestment opportunity for small investors... untill the bubble bursts of course... and those small investors stay behind with worthless shares they often invested all their savings in... It surely wouldn't be the first time this happens, you know. And all parameters for it being the case here at FR are slowly appearing. My advice to FR shareholders: sell asap. (Just as the FR-founders are doing right now, now that you still can to get a profit out of it; if FR is what I think it is, you risk that sooner or later its shareprice will implode: then FR shares will go very low and very quick and you'll have lost everything in less then a week. |
Peter Skellan - Didn't see any GO,Buzz,KLM UK or BRAL aircraft at LGW. In fact only the usual suspects were at 'home'. Any other clues?

It is however true that Tony Ryan and his sons have sold off packages of shares over the last few months, but there appears to be an American based investment company that is accumulating shares. I've posted about both these things in the past, so if you do a search they should come up. That said, MO'L has not been disposing of any of his shares - in fact, he's been buying more. If I was you, I'd edit your last two posts as they could most certainly be construed as libellous - and the people you've named are very litigatious! |
