Sterling redundancies
I'm sorry to tell, that 14 co-joes are made redundant in Sterling.
Heard it yesterday from one of the guys. The danish charter company is loosing money and has lost charter contracts. |
...."and has lost contracts". Yeah, to My Travel I belive. Any chance of MYT taking up the slack, or will the price of converting NG chaps to A32x be prohibitive? Still, with a NG rating and plenty of hours, getting a new job shouldn't be that hard if you're willing to relocate. Or what?
Major costumer was Star Tours who only hand out contracts for one year, and always shop around for the cheapest bidder. Would seem MYT won this year; might very well be reversed next year. Operating a charter airline is not for the faint hearted. How are Sterling's low cost flights doing? |
The Startour charter contract was not lost to MYT - it was lost to DM and SK
NB operates 10 737-800 of theirs + 1 leased 737-700 from DM and a 737-400 from Islandsflug/iceland. They are not upholding the 700+400 lease. |
So.....WHY THE HELL are they inviting pilots to "information meeting" concerning running type rating course later this coming winter..."With a "possibillity" of getting a job offer after course completion" ????????
Beats me!!! But then again, who am I to ask?? :hmm:  |
"So.....WHY THE HELL are they inviting pilots......"
Something to do with the expansion/success of their 'low-cost' scheduled business perhaps? |
So.....they are expanding, kicking 14 something pilots out through one door AND inviting pilots for "interview" through another??? :hmm:
|
Tell you why:
Their expense for giving you an B737 rating is $$. What they charge from you is $$+$. It's a way to make money . :yuk: |
Now THAT is probably closer to the truth than anything else....But still, what does the union say about this?? NOTHING!!!:yuk:
|
Can't see what the unions have got to say about it. If the company is goping to make redundancies then that is the end of it. If the company is offering a way of increasing your sellability, only you can choose whether you agree to the terms or not!
I've heard about this Danish Pilot Union which invites you to join as soon as you get your CPL. So what are unemployed pilots going to do? Go to work in protest? |
