Cockpit voice recorder use

Hello every body,
Who knows about ,the right to use the content of a CVR .
My company asked me to resign after the managment knows what I said in the cockpit .
Thank's for reply

In my opinion, you should contact your Pilots' Union as soon as possible.

exeng 10th Aug 2003 19:37

Rossi,

I agree with Shaman, assuming that is an option open to you.

The CVR should be used to provide data to help with the analysis of an accident/incident. That analysis should then be used to contribute towards efforts to increase air transport safety. It should not be used for purposes other than that.

Out of interest was the content of your CVR looked at because of an incident?

I find it extraordinary that the management of your company should ask you to leave because of your comments recorded on the CVR.

Are your management unhappy about your comments because of their flight safety implications or are there other reasons?

If you are not a member of your local Pilot's union then it will be worth joining even at this late moment. Certain unions will allow you to join, and provide protection for you in regard to this incident.

I wish you all the best.

Please keep us posted on the outcome.

Regards
Exeng

cvr

Is the CVR a 30 mins cycle, or a greater length of time?

Why did the company pull the CVR?

rossi 11th Aug 2003 04:13

The CVR is 2 hours.

The company on the pretext of doing maintenance request the content of the CVR .
The Captain flying the last two hours was not inform , but an another Captain(chief pilot) sign for him.The FO was only inform about the maintenance check .At the end the company use the content of the CVR to request the captain resign.
It is a legal and ethics problem ?.......

Sorry to hear that Rossi, tough break!!

If I remember from the atp's (hardly to be honest...) the cvr - like the fdr may ONLY be used explored for one of 2 reasons:

1. As said above - to invesitage an accident...
2. Maintenance. In the case of this - under JAR - only 30 minutes can be reviewed by law!!

I guess they either caught the worst 30 mins or they listened to all of it..

Gonna share what you said :-)

Unless you did something which jeopardised teh flight safety, or broke any rules... you have a freedom of speach !
This is most likely a personal thing..

Good luck!
