"Airbus forecasts 600 jet orders

Says its order book in 2002-03 points to industry recovery"

Is the headline...
Whatever that means

How nice it must be to have the taxpayers of various European countries available, in order to subsidize civilian aircraft sales at or below cost (allowing market penetration), definitely at a lower "price" than if taxes were not allowed to make up for financial losses.

And this was when times were good.

Don't worry sir; this is a practice not unfamiliar to Boeing in the US.

Ignition Override

Whatever happened in the past, Airbus is now privately owned and commercial.

I note that: . .1. A flock of B767 tankers are to be ordered to tide Boeing over the forthcoming lean patch.... .2. The WTO has ruled that tax breaks using shell companies based in the Virgin Islands qualify as illegal export subsidies under world trade rules. Boeing apparently gained $235m in 2000 from the US taxpayer using this procedure. (source: Flight International 22 Jan)

Ignition Override,

I think your world outlook is vision impaired by patriotism.

Would you care to mention the recent USAF tanker tender process, remember the B767 vs A330..how many airframes involved there ?

Shades of green...pot calling the kettle black and all that...

Some facts....

2002

- Airbus 101 cancellations, Beoing 63 cancellations. .- Airbus 274 net orders vs. Boeing 272 net orders. .- Airbus 6000 jobs cut

2001

Airbus 325 deliveries, Boeing 527 deliveries

Airbus:. .- A320 family: 257. .- A300: 11. .- A330: 35. .- A340: 22

Boeing:. .- B717: 49. .- B737: 299. .- B747: 31. .- B757: 45. .- B767: 40. .- B777: 61. .- MD11: 2

Please don't turn Pprune into us and them over the pond forum.

It’s a big world out there, as one statesman once said, never put all your eggs in one aircraft manufacturer.
