Metroliner accident at Hawthorne
A Metroliner, N343AE, has crashed into a hangar at Hawthorne before take-off. The hangar appears to be only a couple of inches taller than the fuselage. The aircraft is embedded up to the wings which have impacted and crushed the hangar doors.
Two people are reported to have been aboard. One, a female passenger, has been taken to hospital with severe leg injuries. |

There was a bit more on this on the LA morning news. Aircraft was on a take-off run and the pilot reported engine problems before the crash. Aircraft veered left off the runway and ended up in the hangar. There were three aircraft in the hangar, somewhat fueled or fully fueled as was the crash aircraft. Although there was fuel leaking in great quantities after the crash there was no fire. Onboard were the crew and 19 Japanese tourists. The co-pilot suffered minor injuries and one woman passenger is in critical condition in hospital with severe facial lacerations. The aircraft was heading for the Grand Canyon on a sightseeing trip.
