Runway pavement detaches during take-off roll GOL Linhas Aereas Boeing 737-800
 

Lumps and I mean huge slab sized lumps broke up striking the aircraft and damaging it. Pictures and film in the link.

Something very similar happened at Luton many years ago, where the block paving of the new starter extension of 26, lifted and damaged a Britannia Airways 737. I believe the stab was replaced.
Was this newly laid tarmac that was not installed correctly?

Yikes! At what point did the crew notice/discover this?

There are ways to bond asphalt to concrete, but from the look of it, if any were used, it didn't work. There are adhesives that are supposed to be used. At least re-paving won't require much effort to remove the remaining asphalt. If this segment was used to land on there should have been observable damage which would be a great place to start peeling it up.

They are experiencing an intense heatwave right now, this might be a factor for the surface to degrade.

Monarch, rather than Britannia, & turning circle, rather than starter extension, otherwise :ok:

I would suggest that was freshly placed asphalt with incorrect or inadequate primer, and insufficient time from laying.
