IOM Airport closed?

Just on the news - due to a “Police incident” and the airport closed, suspicious package apparently - the IOM its most likely someones dirty washing so probably a false alarm, does anyone know WIHIH?

I would be concerned if I knew where IOM is.
Please give a name as well as an identifier.

IOM = three letters, therefore an IATA code.

Official IATA Airline and Location Code Search

Why not post IOM, Isle of Man instead of playing “I’ve got a secret”.
PPrune is read worldwide so clarity is nice.
If I were to post “Nice trip from YUL to YVO then to YUY it would be true but far from informative to 95% of the readership.

But if they were professional pilots, they would understand….

apologies albatross, I was not even using it as the IATA code (though it is), to me it is a bit like saying NY instead of New York but it is mainly Brits that would know!

Not every pilot lives in your neck of the wood ;)
(I didn't know where IOM was initially)

For extra being piloty points, should have used the ICAO code for Isle of Man...or referred to the airport as Ronaldsway

Equivocal 17th Jun 2022 11:13

Thanks for the clarification - I was thinking it was Jurby.

And as to the original closure, which this thread was about: https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/airp...n-again-551097

Had you erroneously interpreted the thread title as meaning that Jurby was closed, you would still have been correct. :O
