According to nrk.no (I can't post URL's it seems) parts of the plane has been found, and authorities already say there are no survivors

No IFR procedures. Has to be high risk.

According to the report of a similar accident SEP 2012 there is a NDB approach for rwy 11.

Aviation Herald now has picture and map of 2021 accident - hit top of cliff, some of aircraft then fell into ocean.

Avoiding any speculation on causes from the 2012 AN-28 crash, but noted it is the same carrier, route and even flight number.

Is this type of aircraft fitted with EGPWS ? Was it working ?
Does this operator have other EGPWS equipped aircraft ? Does the national authority require EGPWS to be fitted ? |
Did Russia not change its altimetry procedures late last year/early this year. If so, would this apparent CFIT be a potential result of QNH/QFE, Metres/ feet or HPa/mmHg confusion?

gearlever
Jepp doesn't carry any procedures for the airport as of this date, at least not for UHPL. |

Must be for domestic use only. |
That’s a horrible approach.

Thanks for the link Gearlever. One can see that these recent maps ( April 2021) heights are in meters , and QNH/QFE in mmHg , so made for Russian aircraft. . In one comments below someone refers to an interview of the controller which wanted the crew to perform an approach over land due weather /visibility , but it was refused by the crew.
I doubt they had EGPWS on an old AN26 ( ex military) , but I know most old Russians aircraft do have a basic GPWS, someone in Russia can perhaps confirm or infirm that in this case. |
