A330 Neo apparently causing nausea inflight.

On the news yesterday by a TAP union representative, that they have 12 reported cases of Cabin Crew feeling unwell during flight, with nausea, and having to use oxygen to minimize the unwellness.

Some passengers also with the same symptoms.

Yaw damper issue?

TAP statement:

"In some new units of the A330neo, some odors from air-conditioning equipment may have been detected, it is considered normal in new aircraft and disappears soon after first use. [TAP] would never put its customers and workers at risk for their health."

Yeah sure ... and looks like that the Rolls Royce legend lives on ...

Anyone familiar with this new engine ? Still 3 spools like it used to be on the B757 RB211 (N1, N2, and N3) ? or is it more like a Geared Turbofan ?

All Trents are 3-spool.

The A330neo's Trent 7000 is based on the 787's Trent 1000, with one of the major differences being the reinstatement of bleed air on the 7000 (which of course the bleedless 787 famously doesn't use).

It would be interesting to identify the flights on which crew/and or pax reported feeling ill. I wouldn't be surprised if the issue only affected one or two aircraft in TAP's 10-strong fleet.

I seem to remember United crews complained of the same thing on B772s
