Life Sentence for Hijack Threat

An Indian passenger received a life sentence for making a terrorist threat during a flight.

A little bit excessive perhaps, but something like that will deter people. Maybe five tears inside for drunken behavior causing a diversion. Of course in UK, that would have to be at least 7.5 years, because no-one serves a full sentence anymore.

Well done, another idiot less and might serve as deterrence to others.

It's perfectly obvious; jails will be filled with crows.

A bit different from the Afghan Stanstead hijack where the hijackers and all passengers were granted asylum instead of a prison sentence.

One went on to get a job as a cleaner at BA Simulator block in Heathrow.

i Prefer locking them up for a long time.

Euclideanplane 13th Jun 2019 11:32

Why would you prefer to lock up the passengers? Anyway, there are fairly clear rules in effect for granting political asylum in the UK. What you suggest is likely not legal.

Hmm, easy to say from the freedom and home comforts you enjoy! You weren't in the predicament they were in!

Well I didn’t mean the passengers! Unless, as it has been reported, many of the passengers were in on the scam.

So some predicaments justify hi jacking an aircraft and endangering its crew and innocent passengers?

Do you want to rethink that?

Hotel Tango 13th Jun 2019 15:58

Do you want to rethink that?
Nope! But maybe you want to rethink how you interpreted my post! Did I condone their actions? I just thought your solution to put them away "for a long time" was so typical from a person who judges others' actions from the comfort of their nice safe little world! When people become desperate they will resort to doing whatever it takes, regardless of the consequences.
