Kuwait Airways 412 from Bangkok to Kuwait Jan 07

A young 18 year old from Saudi Arabia, Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun, is about to be deported from Thailand to Saudi Arabia via Kuwait aboard KU412 which is to leave in a few hours. She claims that she is facing death if she is deported back to Saudi Arabia but Thai authorities have refused to hear her claim and are forcibly deporting her.

There is quite a thread on the subject on Twitter right now with high profile personalities re twitting her pleas for help.

This reminds me of the UAE princess who was forcebly sent back to the UAE after she fled to India in a sailboat.

Can anything be done to help her and prevent her deportation ? Can the crew be made aware that they are sending a person back to persecution, torture or death ?

We all know what the Saudis are capable of.

I'm afraid not, at least by posting here on this website. This seems to be a diplomatic issue, outside our purview.

Isn't Trudeau supposed to already be boycotting Saudi Arabia and America for something?

According to Human Rights Watch Director Phil Robertson, the flight (KU412) left without her.

Firmly disagree. This seems to be far less a diplomatic issue than one of kidnapping/abduction/forced disappearance. This site is exactly the correct place to call for any aircrew in a position to lend any kind of assistance to do so.

And what do you expect a crew to do?

I agree 100%! I would never accept her on my flight. We have a chance to stop this from happening.

I am pretty sure her deportation paperwork is in order. You can obviously say no but you realise this could be your last flight for the airline?

If she is on their flight, confirm the identity of the individual and deny boarding on whatever grounds they see fit. Given the present international outcry, there are numerous avenues that motivated individuals could pursue. If in BKK, perhaps take photographs, apply influence wherever possible or simply bear witness. If nowhere near BKK, develop an awareness that these kinds of incidents happen every day and that the chain of events leading up to an abduction like this can be broken at numerous points and that you could one day be in a position to do something tangible. I have refused unruly DEPA/DEPU before. My airline does not allow boarding of cuffed passengers.
I would need to talk to her before boarding to make sure she is fit for travel.
