Car on RWY at Lyon Airport (LYS)
What kind of maniac is this? He got a good run for it though!

Lyon airport closed, vehicle incursion on runway.
Lyon, St Exupery was closed this morning after a motorist managed to smash through barriers and get onto the runway.
He had shortly before tried the same at Lyon, Bron. No injuries reported. https://www.laprovence.com/actu/en-d...t-de-lyon.html Edit: Have just noticed Timpsi's post |
This moron intentionally drove his car through the glass terminal, ended up airside, drove onto the apron/taxiways/runway and was arrested. Nobody was hurt. |

Why did it take so long? Couldn't they aim straight?
|
That foot chase looked like a Keystone Cops film.
|
Regretably, sounds a bit more sinister than just a drive down the runway. https://www.aerotime.aero/clement.ch...erm=2018-09-10

Was there myself yesterday, to fly on EZY to BIA (Bastia), only managed to check in, followed by standing in line for 8 hrs. No thanks to Easyjet for undermanning service desk with all flights cancelled. Finally managed to jump on the train downtown, then TGV to Paris, spending all night at CDG to get to destination 18 hrs late. Also question the time this took. Once subject is caught, FOD inspect and sweep the runway, and open up again. Dunno if runway in use was even affected. This might naturally have been a diversion to a real terror attack and it was the day before 9/11... |

Does anyone know how to set that video to the Benny Hill music?
|
The standard "suffering from mental issues" comment has been made about the driver. |
There is no dealing with a very determined nutter. If some guy, who is clearly not playing with a full deck of cards, takes it upon himself to do something completely deranged, it is very hard to legislate against all the countless permutations of mad acts he may think up. |
They should have done a Pit maneuver on the guy after he started running
|
I'm intrigued by the fact that he apparently managed to drive the car airside by driving in a straight line through the passenger terminal. If I've got that correct, it would appear to be quite a security flaw.

Doesn't look as though they have PAS 68 protection. Absolutely required in the UK after a certain Scottish incident.

Seriously the mindset that if a gun might be used to solve a problem then any less deadly solution is redundant is very American; it permeates your movies and it drives your attitude to gun control and it is very different to the rest of the world. |

Because it wasn't an American movie, guns aren't the answer to every problem, once he left the car he was no longer a significant threat, killing him wasn't necessary in order to capture him, and he hadn't been tried, found guilty, and sentenced to death yet.

Nonsense, nonsense! You're too keen to bring your personal agenda to the table. Firstly, I'm not an American. Secondly, it was a tongue in cheek comment. Thirdly, I never mentioned the use of guns. He could have been stopped whilst in the vehicle, by aiming another at it. |

At least we don't have crazies driving cars onto the runway. |
