Olympic flame on an aircraft
I found this interesting...how the Olympic flame is air transported.

Doesn't this violate some ICAO "laws"? Hazardous materials? Transport of dangerous goods?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/18114351 understand also that the lamp cradles are designed to extinguish the flame when tipped. |
Modern version of a Davy lamp used in Methane filled coal mines. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_lamp Most likely more save than any lithium battery powered phone. |
I remember an old cartoon that had an Olympic athlete sitting the cabin holding a burning torch. The passenger beside him says "Shouldn't you at least run up and down the aisle?".

Looks like a burn mark on the antimacassar... :}

Couldn't they just use it to ignite the fuel in the engines? that's a fairly safe way of transporting a flame via aircraft. Of course, extracting it at the far end might be challenging.
