A330 neo engine problem
 

Bloomberg is reporting that the Trent 7000 is facing the same problems as the 1000 fitted to the 787.

Oh deary me, not RR's finest moment, this.

Bloomberg are saying that RR have confirmed it, though it is possible that they've misunderstood what RR told them. I suppose the one good thing is that the 330neo is not in service yet.

I'm not sure that it's going to make a massive difference, provided RR make the right kind of noises about sorting this out. When the problems first arose with ANA's 787s RR must have made the right noises because ANA have since ordered more from RR. The long term gain for the airlines is good, so long as RR take on a big share of the short term pain.

I think it will be used as an excuse in the US market, where it's clear that Boeing and GE are running a "win-at-any-price" strategy. The rest of the world, especially China which is likely to start buying anything but Boeing because of Trump's trade war, will likely be content to take a long term view.

Bloomberg are talking out of their posteriors.

By the way, contrary to what you Brits think, a company is an entity. A singular. Bloomberg doesn't understand. A company is not necessarily a collection of people.

Hmm, seems the Bloombergers aren't so good at their jobs...

I guess that with RR's shop being pretty busy at the moment it's a case of dealing with the more significant issues first. Presumably the work plan to fix the -1000s and build the TENs XWBs and -7000s has been carefully laid out for months or years to come, and their press release is simply the public result of optimising that across all customers.

Or the even more simple solution that there is no problem and as I said earlier, Bloomberg is botty talking.

US news network jumping on any chance to boost a US business by bashing a foreign one per chance ??

Let's face it, most publications that write stories about jet engines don't know the difference between a fan blade, a compressor blade or a turbine blade. This often applies even to aviation industry publications where writers should know the differences. So if you read an article about a turbine blade problem, chances are it is a compressor blade problem or vice-versa, just the way it is...

If there really is a problem, I would rather hear about it from an operator who has access to publicized fixes from RR.

at least they get the parts like fan compressor or turbine right.

If there really is a problem, I'd expect to see an AD about it. I can't find a relevant one...
