Diverted to Prestwick

I am on that flight
 

I am sitting on that aircraft now. Pilot seems to think it might be lithium battery related.
Pilot initially said returning to Paris and later landing Prestwick. Everything was calm and orderly.
Crew more impressed by getting on pprune minutes after the landing than surviving.

Replacement 777 approaching Carlisle just now enroute prestwick.

says in report replacement will take them back to CDG, despite logistics of crewing and flight hours, surely pax just want to continue on to YVR?

Can somebody please explain the logic of having the replacement aircraft 777-300 take the passengers......... back to Paris !
