The idea is to use the thing in military aircraft that are not fitted with the levels of automation that a 737 has. They just used a 737 for the demo because it was available, and a B52 or C5 (or whatever) wasn't.

If it's been designed to see things as a human would then that would seem to be a dumb artificial limitation. Why design a robot with only 2 eyes where it has to turn it's head to see.

I would hope that it has almost 360 vision, surely the point is to enhance, not to duplicate human weaknesses.

By all means it can have 2 visible 'eyes' and turn it's head towards someone if addressing a SLF (Soft Life Form :D ) but even when doing so it should be looking out the window, at the instruments and behind it.

Video of the landing starting from 210kt with flaps zero.

1s said before, the point of this study, are to have a robotic copilot, able to use a standard cockpit.

Not from now, but I m sure lots of airline will love it on day ... Even if previously said, cheap FO paying their own training cost much more less than the price of just the robot.

Watch all the automatic underground ? It is working, since few years now, does all the tram/train/underground driver job has disappeared ? No.
I still think we are safe for some decade ...
