BA check-in system checks out: Staff flung back to cruel '90s world of paper ? The Register

BA's ironically named "Fly DCS"

They started rolling out the FLY component of Amadeus's Altera DCS suite last October and only recently completed that. It kicked off at Stupid o'clock on the first Tuesday of the month, exactly the kind of windo you'd want to target for a monthly software upgrade.

There are lots of moving parts in an airline system .... but still, this ain't ever meant to happen. Ever.

Was this an upgrade timed for the Us holiday?

I think it's safe to say the BA is NOT the World's Favorite IT Airline!

Rolling out a new and complex computer system and making your in house IT employees redundant at the same time.

What could possibly go wrong?

Outsourcing, It's the future. Good luck.

And meanwhile, what was happening to all those pilotless airliners?

nuisance79 7th Sep 2016 09:42

Just to be clear FLY is not a part of ALTEA DCS. FLY is a completely different system and IT provider which interfaces with ALTEA DCS (the front end GUI).
