"The airline which operates the Cardiff-Anglesey air route has had its safety licence revoked. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the action over LinksAir was taken to "protect the travelling public"."

North Flying will now operate the route.

Why would anyone need to fly from Anglesey to Cardiff? Regional politics at it 'best' probably...

It's a five-hour road trip from Cardiff to Anglesey. The train / bus journey takes five and a half hours.

Interestingly it appears that the Links Air safety certificate was actually suspended late on Friday October 16th - but it appears that scheduled flights (two each way every weekday) did operate that day. On Monday October 19th all flights were cancelled. The precise reason for the suspension of the safety certificate has not been given by the CAA.

North Flying commenced operations - to the same schedule - on Tuesday Oct 20th.

"PROTECT THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC "?

against what ... wasting public money? Don`t think so. The CAA action is public safety related. Our concern must therefore be the nature of the particular issues relating to safety that have compelled the CAA to suspend this company`s flying operations. These must have been of a sufficiently serious nature to precipitate such an action.

Their operations and planning department surely now need fully investigating by the CAA? How the hell did they allow this to happen?
