Those CL215s are built like tanks!

I have personally seen one crash during a demo flight many years back at CYUL and the crew survived too.

A CL215,is not a Buffalo , and it does not look like Naples but more like Athens .
But besides that, well done to the crew !
Both engines props feathered ? Or Is it an impression from the angle the photo is taken ?

Naples was a bad translation. It's from Greece - Neapoli is a suburb of Thessaloniki.

The crash landing took place in Southern Peloponesse near the town of Neapoli. The information about Saloniki are accurate but fairly irrelevant although in nearby Micra airbase is the home of the Greek CL-415.

Unfortunately the aircraft was burned shortly after the crash landing from the forest fire it was used against.

Bit of a clue with the flag on the tail and the wording on the Hi-Vis jackets which if I am not mistaken says, from ancient Greek, 'I am wearing this to cover someone else's arse'

Aircraft involved was 1070, one of the Elefsis-based CL-215s of 355 Mira.

This was not an ex Buffalo Airways aircraft. 1070 belonged to the Greek Air Force and was formerly with the Slovenian and Yugoslav Air Forces. It was delivered directly from the manufacturer to the Yugoslav Air Force in 1981.

Sorry, as a long term lurker and only occasional SLF, 'i know nuffink about nuffink' when it comes to aviation.

But I like to think that I can recognise a proper day's work being done. The folks in the two CL-215s, three CL-415s and the AirCrane (if I'm right) that we saw near Kalamaki on Sat/Sun certainly seemed to fit that bill.

To go from contact with one less than predictable and hazardous element to drop it on another, repeatedly and over a long period...well I was certainly impressed.

Ex Yugoslavia had a few CL-215 aircrafts. Two of them were sold to Greeece by an unknown Serbian politician. No money was ever paid to the state.
Is is still secret what really has happened here. No investigation ever initiated.

Looking at the Video over and over ... I do not think that violent left turn was
due to hitting a floating log.
It looks to me like like hitting the water a little to fast and going for a left high speed turn ( the Video clearly shows what looks like full left rudder )
If that is the pilots reaction to avoid a forced left turn ( initiated by hitting something) it is a total srew up by the pilot.

Well something punctured the hull, look at the pictures, I should imagine the sudden ingress of water on one side wouldn't help.
