Qantas A330 Incident - take note EASA!

Fatigue, sickness involved in botched Qantas A330 approach - 7/9/2015 - Flight Global

I note with disappointment that the ATSB official report mentions fatigue etc in the report and then ENTIRELY ignroes them in the 'Safety Issues and Actions' section, and furthermore that is is skimmed over in the 'Findings' section.

Not much more to say, EASA are taking a very dangerous line by reducing the safety margins even further simply because they are doing what airlines are telling them to do. I would love to know exactly how much...ahem...'lobbying'...went into the new FTL's.

They have been warned, this is yet another one for the file.

There but for the Grace of God...well saved by a tired crew at the end of a long day (week) by the sounds of it.

Well, according to that article to which you have linked, ATSB have phrased it very carefully and do NOT refer to 'fatigue', merely 'tiredness' and 'unwell'.

It would probably have been appropriate for ATSB in 'Safety Issues and Actions' to suggest that the Captain should have declared himself 'unfit' for one or both sectors, but............need I say more?

What a load of bollix, what do you know about for example what UK AOC's are having to do to manage EASA FTL?.
If safety margins are being eroded why does the rest of Europe rumble on with Sub Part Q.
Simple fact the Captain was ill, tired and hadn't eaten.
So combo of sleepiness (not fatigue) and lack of food (food is fuel)
Your profile suggests you fly in the ME. I'd be more worried about some practices out there.....
