Jet2 Controlled Engine Shut Down

Jet2 airliner's engine fails over the Atlantic flying from Glasgow to Tenerife | Daily Mail Online

Warning! Daily Mail Article!

Simplythebeast 17th Oct 2014 21:27

Engine failure or precautionary shutdown?
"The aircraft descended quickly by 10,000ft to stabilise at 25,000ft"
Babies on board.........
Terror on board!
Surprised no use of the word Horror.
That Newspaper is a complete joke.

Jet2 Controlled Engine Shut Down

Even though it was over the ocean I'm surprised that they haven't reported"The captain grappled with the controls" or "they narrowly avoided a school (500 miles away)......

Their journalism skills are definitely going downhill

Ridiculous journalism. This really makes my blood boil. They have no understanding of these things what so ever.

Their journalism skills are definitely going downhill
What?

Firstly there is no 'skill' whatsoever in their 'journalism', and
that scum newspaper reached the bottom of a very long hill
many many years ago.

Capetonian 17th Oct 2014 22:26

Over the Atlantic?

Not 'the raging seas of the 20,000 metre deep shark infested Atlantic Ocean'? Very tame for the DM.

Three and a half hours from GLA to TFS???

Those 737's have changed since my day...

:(

PS - Did it 'plummet' at any stage??

They have no understanding of these things what so ever.
I think they do. They also have a good understanding of what sort of headlines sell newspapers and keeps the advertisers happy. Truth, objectivity and accuracy does not come into it. Best thing to keep your blood pressure down is not to read these rags! ;)

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 18th Oct 2014 08:22

Luckily there we no schools or hospitals in the way......

DaveReidUK 18th Oct 2014 09:14

Judging from the comments from DM readers accompanying the article, even they are starting to take a pretty jaundiced view of the paper's never-ending stream of sensationalised reports about aviation non-events.

Simplythebeast 18th Oct 2014 10:51

Heathrow Director, Im sure there were schools and hospitals within a thousand miles but the pilot obviously heroically avoided them.

cwatters 18th Oct 2014 11:13

Ah I see it's obvious now. That's the real reason they didn't land at Madeira - because there is a school on the island. Good call. ;)
