CAAP suspends Zest Air operations due to various safety issues

Flight crew hours repeatedly exceeded, etc. Apparently a rather casual approach to "paperwork". This airline was formerly known as Asian Spirit.

Hmm, wonder if they've upset someone 'important'?

Flew with them once Tagbilaran to Manila, OK if one like parent company's Zesto orange juice because that's about all the in-flight catering there was.

Seems more recently they've jumped in to bed with Air Asia ... Hmmm

Zest Air resumes operations

Subsection 9.2.2.2 (a) of PCAR, which states that:
"Each operator shall have an accountable manager… who has corporate authority for ensuring that all flight operations and maintenance activities can be financed and carried out to the highest degree of safety standards."

That Airline had no manager for that position since !!!more than 10 years!!!
The CAAP inspector have been aware about that!

Happened quick, somebody got paid off. :O

Suspension of Air Operator Certificate

On Aug. 16, 2013, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines suspended Zest Air's Air Operator certificate due to a series of safety breaches.
Among the violations were:
- No qualified Accountable Manager since July 19, 2013

- Failure to check aircraft logs, flight manifest, weather, etc.

- Failure to present to the CAAP the airman license (Aircraft Mechanic License) during ramp inspection

- Series of occurrences that affected several flight operations

- Refueling with passenger on board involving RP-C8989 on August 14, 2013

- Excessive flight duty time case under the enforcement and legal service


On August 20, 2013, it was reported that Zest Air is allowed to fly into the skies again.

Is that a violation...!?

Its done daily here in Europe in tons of Airports, with tons of different airlines...im confused now:confused:

Hey, I even saw a 721 of the long defunct Aero Peru being refueled with no 3 running while pax deplaning on rear stairs. The airport of the fair city of Trujillo had no air starter... :}

Looks like some issues are maintenance related. Zest Air's maintenance is contracted with A+, a company jointly owned by Singapore Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air Inc.

Now, a "re-branding" - but the question of management seems to be unclear - is Zest Air going to be managed by Air Asia?

So it only took four days to sort everything out ? Tiger Australia were grounded for six weeks before CASA were satisfied everything was in order.:hmm:
