Teesside runs out of de-icer!!! Unbelievable!!
You must think its a joke,I only wish it was.Teesside must be the laughing stock-it has lost an Iberworld 320,Futura 738,BMI 735 and an
Eastern j31 over the last few days. The ILS is off at both ends to compound the problem.Might as well shut down and put us out of our misery!!!! |
Its not the only airport to have run out of de-icer. I know one aircraft was stuck in Shetland for 3 days due to the same problem. In the end another company aircraft flew in empty with a hold full of de-icer just so the aircraft could get out.
You'd think it was winter - oh sh@t it is....... [ 03 January 2002: Message edited by: jetgirl ]
|
A few years ago BA ran out at Heathrow, they cancelled a huge number of flights, allmost all of the short haul program and kept some long haul flying. Can't remember the date (or the year come to that!) but it happened.

If only the freezing ground staff would stop drinking the stuff to try and keep warm...

|
I was just going to say that is sounded a bit like LTN!! At the moment no problem but how long will it last...
|
We've got plenty at Farnborough !!
|
And iceside is running out of tea !
Horrors ! |
What's so suprising?....This is the UK isn't it?
|
im sure im going to regret saying this but, "so far" this year ltn has not been coping too bad, other than a few occasions of de-icing rigs breaking down. guess you just pop down the road to halfords "2000 cans of your finest de-icer please" im just waitng for the forcasted snow to fall so that ltn airport can be really un-prepared.

A few(!?) years ago when I worked at MME, we used to get the young and foolhardy to walk/crawl along the Viscount and Herald wings with a sweeping brush to get rid of the white stuff. Surely in this day and age this could be upgraded to a Dyson? Who needs de-icer anyway?
(We've got loads at LBA - mind you, we need it in July) |
...and then there is the latest JAR-OP that requires a thorough inspection of the upper surfaces of the aircraft IMMEDIATELY prior to commencing the take-off run. Looks like there'll be even bigger queues than usual down at the departure runway this winter.
I assume that each operator will provide a set of steps with a torch, magnifying glass and clipboard down at the runway, for use during the inspection? ********************************** Through difficulties to the cinema |
