Whistleblower Organizations

I did a site search, and didn't find anything - which surprised me. Also, if this is the wrong sub-forum for this post - my apologies.

There are two new(ish) whistleblower organizations which may be of interest to many Pprune users ...

The FAA Whistleblower Alliance and the Whistleblowing Airline Employees Association. Both have been working with the Government Accountability Project, among other whistleblower and advocacy groups, and have been involved in Senate presentations.

The Whistleblowing Airline Employees Association's representative Capt. Dan Hanley has also started a Blog Talk Radio Program. They had their first 90 minute airing last week, now archived, and have their next airing tomorrow.

Both groups are running blog type websites that are well worth perusing. Some of the "stories" are very disturbing.

I am not supplying links, as I'm not sure the mods will allow them ... but google is your friend.

United

Having just read Captain Hanley's affidavit in the correspondence section of "whistleblowers" I am moved to reflect that it is not only guitars that United breaks.

Too right you are, too green one prayer.

I have been informed by PM that the mods will allow the posting of links to these whistleblower organizations. Thank you!

FAA Whistleblower Alliance
Note that there is also a new website under construction.

I hope that the simple knowledge that these organizations exist will give some comfort to anyone who finds themselves having to consider blowing the whistle.

Stay safe.

Great idea, "accountable executive" what next putting a pedophile in charge of an orphanage?

SMS is being used as a way to reduce government oversight costs and liability, rather than for the purpose of improving safety - here in Canada anyway. Without effective whistleblower protections in place for ALL members of the aviation community (not just public servants), SMS may prove to be a very dangerous move. I would be interested to know more about the Australian experience, and am curiously watching what happens in the USA as the FAA has now proposed its SMS amendments. I don't think the ICAO has thought this through.
